Fair Isla
The Newest Member of Our FamilyThe team here at Errol Sunday Market are delighted to welcome the newest addition to our family, Fair Isla. Fair Isla who is designed by daisyglaisy joined us in September after being bought at Auction for £8,000 in a bid to raise funds for The Maggie’s Centre in Dundee. The Maggie’s Centre provides free practical, social and emotional support to people with cancer along with their families and friends. A great cause that we are proud to have been a part of.
Daisyglaisy is the work of Aberdeenshire artist, Lindsay Allardyce. Inspired by vintage, folk and Nordic designs, Lindsay uses these themes to form the basis of her artwork. She works mainly with reclaimed wood painted with acrylics to create unique pieces. In 2017 Lindsay was one of the Anchor 20for20 artists – painting a 6-foot anchor that spent the summer in Shetland before raising £15,000 for Friends of Anchor and making its way back to Aberdeen where it is on display in Westhill.
In 2018 Lindsay was delighted to be one of the Maggie’s Penguin Parade artists and inspired by her love of traditional Scottish and Nordic folk and a trip to Shetland the year before, she designed her penguin, Fair Isla. Using her appreciation of home-grown design and in the spirit of keeping the penguin cosy, Lindsay thought some good, colourful Scottish knitwear would be perfect! Fair Isla spent the summer in Perth as part of the parade.
Lindsay lives in Aberdeenshire with her husband and three girls. Having worked for a local charity for 14 years, she has an appreciation for the amazing work that goes on in the third sector across Scotland.
We have no doubt that Fair Isla will bring a lot of joy to our Sunday Market and we hope to promote her importance to the community and the life changes that she has made to those who visit the Maggie’s centre daily. We are grateful to have taken part in such a great cause and we congratulate the Maggie’s Centre and the spectacular artists on their amazing success. We look forward to displaying her for all to see.
